Played out in a mix of real-time movement and turn-based combat, a core feature of Darkest Dungeon is the stress level of each hero that increases with further exploration and combat a character sustaining a high-stress level may gain afflictions that will hamper, or possibly enhance, their performance as an explorer. Later that year, it was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Linux, with a port for iOS being released in 2017, and ports for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One being released by 2018.ĭarkest Dungeon has the player manage a roster of heroes to explore dungeons below a gothic mansion the player has inherited. The game was first released for Microsoft Windows and OS X in January 2016, which followed a year-long early access development period. If you find you have all level 5-6 heroes, but still some lower-level bosses to take out, plus a full roster, fear not, for when you conquer one of the Darkest Dungeon levels, those heroes that defeat the DD mission will stop counting against your roster's max, and you can hire 4 more heroes.Darkest Dungeon is a roguelike role-playing video game developed and published by Red Hook Studios. To fix that, you have to get some new heroes, then go after the boss when they're the right level. The problem can sometimes happen that you outlevel a boss mission, i.e., you have no heroes at a low-enough level to go on the mission. The color of the boss fight doesn't change unless you've beat the boss then it changes to the next color, representing the next difficulty. So if it's at "3", and you go on another mission there, it could change to "4", but as long as the color is right (green, orange, then red), you can fight that boss without worry that it'll have increased in level too (the number on the dungeon doesn't represent the boss level, the color does). If you're wondering about the number in the area, they number up to 7, which is IIRC the number needed for the boss (edit: could be lower, I don't recall). If I go on another mission in the ruins and level it to four, will it also increase the level of that boss? I don't want to miss out on the boss or make it so my lower level characters won't be able to fight him.
